Horrifier (2022)

After the 3 year pandemic a lot had happened within Wednesday 13 life such as loss of his mother and of course Joey Jordison. He mentioned he could of written a record around that heartbreak and also the strangeness of the pandemic but he choose to go back to his horror roots in most of this record.

During the 20 Years of Fears tour he decided it was time to release a new round of material after the Necrophaze and the off and on tour to represent that just before the pandemic.

Before the release of the record Wednesday 13 did 3 videos and singles for the record. The first being the Exorcist driven video You’re So Hideous (even though the song was written around Medusa), Insides Out and the third being Its a Good Day to be a Bad Guy.

The art work for the record was done by John Bush who also did a large number of this past tour shirt art and of course the famous Necrophaze comic work.

Track List

  1. Severed
  2. Insides Out
  3. Exhume and Devour
  4. You’re So Hideous
  5. Good Day to be a Bad Guy
  6. Return to Haddonfield
  7. Horrifier
  8. Hell is Coming Home
  9. Halfway to the Grave
  10. Christine: The Fury in the Night
  11. The Other Side

Personal View – This record kicks out in high gear with Insides Out which I personally think is the gem of the whole record and might even even one of his heaviest tunes since Monsters of the Universe record. Such an amazing song and the video is over the top.

This record is a great mix of Wednesday 13 from almost all his eras with sound. Exhume and Devour has a nice classic Wednesday 13 intro and the guitar riff hits you right in the face. The song is just a classic Wednesday 13 sound and song. Good Day to be a Bad Guy has that Fang Bang feel and could have easily came off that record just a fun tune. The title track Horrirfier is a heavy grinding tune with some pretty forward chorus.

Some of the tracks that do sound different for Wednesday 13 for something new, Hell is Coming Home which has a strange whining guitar sound , Halfway to the Grave the vocals are totally different and has that 80s sound which works it into a diamond of the record. (another one of my favorites). The final song of the record is called The Other Side which is probably a tough song to write and sing for Wednesday 13 as it is dedicated to his mother and Joey. And yes it is a ballad which he really has not really done since Condolences.

This record is a nice mix and solid Wednesday 13 record.

I had the special chance to actual meet and see the band live the night the record was released as they were touring in my city in Canada. I have met the band a number of times but it was nice to get the count down live on stage. Horrifier is defiantly a throw on repeat record!

Necrophaze Anitdote (2021)

During the 2020-2021 COVID 19 pandemic Wednesday 13 kept himself busy with his fanclub as the Necrophaze tour pretty much got cancelled.

It was also no better time by 2021 to gather some new left over material and official release it digitally, Necrophaze Anitdote is literally that.

The EP is literally two left over tracks that were digital released before but never on a official Wednesday 13 record and two re-recorded songs from the Frankenstein Drag Queen days that Wednesday loved to play live.

In a interview Wednesday 13 did mentioned that Animal (Fucks like a Beast) could of been on this EP but instead he loved that remake so much that it stayed on Necrophaze.

Track List

  1. Your Mother Still Sucks Cocks in Hell
  2. Screwdriver 2 The Return
  3. Devil Inside
  4. Films

Band Members

Wednesday 13 – Vocals, Guitar

Roman Surman – Guitar

Jack Tankersley  – Guitar

Troy Doebbler – Bass

(Not sure who did the drum tracks)

Personal View – This EP is just left over tracks and I personally cannot wait for actual new material from the Duke of Spook. But it is better than nothing and it is nice to see a couple of these tracks on something more official.

I personally have loved the Gary Numan cover of Films since I first heard it over a year ago. It is creepy and I love the way the track just leaves so much wondering for the mind. It is not a complicated song but it is just eerie and I love it. I could have totally seen this track being on the Necrophaze record.

Another track which was a remake was the INXS song of Devil Inside. This song was huge in my high school days and brings back a lot of memories of teen dances. The riff is great and it works well . This song is another that has been out for awhile since Halloween of 2020.

The opening track to be honest is ok and I prefer the original with the honky tonk piano. Your Mother Still Sucks Cocks in Hell is a remake of a classic FDQ tune and part of me wished they would of just left it as is and just continued to play it live.

Now the surprise for me is the re-recording of Screwdriver. I was shocked that they started to play this classic song again live and even more surprised they decided to record it again. I have to say I was never a massive fan of the song but man this re-recording improves it. We loose the laser gun sound and they make it heavy with the back vocals. I love this recording of the classic tune.

Necrophaze (2019)

Wednesday 13 did not waste anytime during the end of the Condolence tour to start to work on his next project.  In between the main tour and the one he did with Cradle of Filth he and the band recorded a record called Necrophaze.

For the very first time Wednesday 13 had guest singers on his record since the first Frankenstein Drag Queens record The Late, Late, Late Show and this one has quite a few.  His idol Alice Cooper, Cristina Scabbia  (Lacuna Coil), Jeff Clayton (Anti-Seen , the famous the Confederate Crusader) and Alex Laiho (Children of Bodom). There is also a bonus track at the end of the record of remake of the metal classic form W.A.S.P. Animal (Fucks Like a Beast). In the past Wednesday 13 did do a remake of another W.A.S.P. tune called Blind in Texas.

The record was set to release at the end of September of 2019 and in the summer of 2019 in the pre-order fans had the option to also purchase action figure of the Necrophaze.

The first single was released which was called Decomposed, even though he did play the new Zodiac live during the last leg of the Condolence tour. (this will be edited as the record gets released)

Two weeks later a video trailer came out for Zodiac. Which is a 2 min clip of Wednesday 13 posing as the new villain.

Bring Your Own Blood and the title track Nekrophaze was released about a month later.

Track List

  1. Necrophaze (featuring Alice Cooper)
  2. Bring Your Own Blood
  3. Zodiac
  4. Monster (featuring Cristina Scabbia)
  5. Decompose
  6. Be Warned (featuring Jeff Clayton/ the Confederate Crusader)
  7. The Hearse
  8. Tie Me a Noose
  9. Life Will Kill Us All
  10.  Bury the Hatchet
  11. Necrophaze Main Theme
  12. Animal (Fuck Like a Beast)(featuring Alexi Laiho)

Band Members

Wednesday 13 – Vocals, Guitar

Roman Surman – Guitar

Jack Tankersley  – Guitar

Troy Doebbler – Bass

Kyle Castronovo – Drums

Personal View – This record is so full of goodness from beginning to the end. From the beginning intro with Alice Cooper speaking to the end of the final scream of W13 paying tribute the classic shock rock band W.A.S.P. on Animal (Fucks like a Beast) this is a trip of the Necrophaze.

I personally was concerned when Wednesday 13 announced that he would be having guest vocalists (here we go the record is going to be a radio sound record) but I could not be any further wrong. This record is a mix of everything for everyone and it is very catchy. I find my foot tapping along to every song ( the drums really stick out on this record). We have classic metal, horror punk and even a couple catchy campy tunes that we have known Wednesday to do.  My personal favorites are Bring Your Own Blood, Monster (this an amazing tune), Zodiac, Bury the Hatchet and of course Animal. But the whole damn record rocks!

Bourbon Crow – Demos That Didn’t Quite Make It (2015)

This is a collection of songs that were left over from the recording sessions of Off the Wagon on the Rocks which was funded by a kickstarter. Released as a bonus on the kickstarter supporters this is a odd collection of old country songs from Bourbon Crow.

Track List

1 When In Dixie
2 I Hope They Serve Jack Daniels In Hell
3 Hard Drinking Man
4 Just Don’t Call Me Tonight
5 Song About You and Me
6 Saturday Night A Drink And Fight
7 One More Round
8 No Happy Ending
9 J.D. You’re An Angel To Me
10 I Stopped Loving You
11 Hell No H20

Band Members

Buck Bourbon (Wednesday 13) – Vocals and Guitar
Jessie Crow (Rayen Belchere) – Vocal Guitar
Roman Surman – Guitar

Personal View

This record is bit more on the slower side after all it is the songs that did not make the cut. Just Don’t Call Me Tonight is a classic song and Wednesday’s voice is real twang! There is still some nice guitar work on this record.

Bourbon Crow – Off the Wagon on the Rocks (2015)

Yet again in 2016 after a kickstarter the country duel went at it again with some old back road tunes. Buck Bourbon (Wednesday 13)and Jessie Crow (Rayen Belchere) returned as they gathered money from the kickstarter as they broke the deal with record company. They did a North America tour to support the record with Wednesday 13 doing the support for Undead Unplugged.

Track List

1 Alcohol
2 Nature boy (The Ballad of Rick Flair)
3 Wish Upon a Bar
4 Life I Live
5 Hard Drinking Man
6 Chick Fil A
7 Fuck You
8 Wishful Drinking
9 One More Round
10 I Hope They Serve Jack Daniels in Hell
11 Alcohol Poison

Band Members

Buck Bourbon (Wednesday 13) – Vocals and Guitar
Jessie Crow (Rayen Belchere) – Vocal Guitar
Roman Surman – Guitar

Personal Review

This was a harder record to track down unlike the past 2 and listening to it you feel a change in the band. The vocals are more of fun positive sound and you can tell they had fun writing and recording this record.  Some of the lyrics are based on some personal stuff for example Nature boy (The Ballad of Rick Flair) is not a surprise as both Rayen and Wednesday 13 are wrestling fans. Chick Fil A speaks for itself. We also have a version of Fuck You on this record which is the same song as found on Dixie Dead, which I think fits better here.

Wednesday 13 – Condolences (2017)

In 2017 Wednesday 13 talked about doing and releasing his darkest record yet. He wanted to keep the same band together as the last record as he felt this build a tighter connection and it worked. He mentioned that the work would be more based around the eyes of a serial killer and darker lyrics.  After doing an unplugged tour with part of his band and Bourbon Crow this was a nice change.

He named the record Condolences due to the number of stars deaths and it felt like it was becoming more a common word in his world.

The band released a video for What the Night Brings first to set the pace for the up coming record. The second was released about a month later for Blood Sick (bit of a Spider Baby theme). Third video released was the comic driven Cruel to You. The forth video was released on release day of the cd for the title track Condolences. (which he used the fake tacked of his own death to prompt).

The tour itself to support the record was louder and more aggressive. Spider web images dot the background with a bright red logo of the name. One of the first shows for the tour was playing at the Download Festival with an addition to the stage of pyrotechnics from a trio of ladies.  Into the tour Wednesday 13 had to cancel a few dates due to his daughter Zoie Starr having a baby.

Track List

1 Last Rites
2 What the Night Brings
3 Cadaverous
4 Blood Sick
5 Good Riddance
6 You Breathe, I Kill
7 Omen Amen
8 Cruel to You
9 Eulogy XIII
10 Prey for Me
11 Lonesome Road to Hell
12 Condolences
13 Death Infinity

Roman Surman – Guitar

Jack Tankersley  – Guitar

Troy Doebbler – Bass

Kyle Castronovo – Drums

Personal View – Being waiting it seems forever for this record and finally it is here. This record does not disappoint when it comes to darker lyrics and heavier.  Going in the same heavy vein of the last record but more driven with killer tunes with less campiness. Some of the tunes that drive and stick out from this record (after many listens) are the opening track What the Night Brings, Cadaverous (necro feel again and I love when he sings about this topic), Blood Sick (one of the strongest tracks I personally find from W13), Omen Amen (heavy as hell and driven), Condolences (very classic Alice Cooper sound, nice guitar in the middle added touch), You Breathe, I Kill ( is very heavy and maybe the darkness yet, makes you want to kick some ass), Prey for Me (heavy riff and a nice drum track) and the ender was a surprise Death Infinity as I was waiting for an outro much like past records.

There really are no lacking tracks on this record even the rare ones took a couple listens and not long before my head and foot was going.  Love the direction of this record went and the way Wednesday 13 is marching towards creepier and darker stuff. Don’t get me wrong I love the campy side also (huge FDQFP13 fan) but this a nice killer soundtrack to be played and listened in order. “Sorry for you Loss” and “I fucking like it

Wednesday 13- Undead Unplugged (2014)

After doing the Bourbon Crow thing Wednesday 13 thought it would be cool to some a unplugged record to match the success of some of the unplugged shows he was doing.

In 2014 he released an acoustic record with versions of songs from his solo career, with one original track entitled Undead. The album also features acoustic versions of Murderdolls and Frankenstein Drag Queens From Planet 13 songs, both being bands Wednesday 13 had fronted in the past.

Before the release of the Undead Unplugged , Wednesday 13 released a few acoustic versions of songs from Bloodwork and Spook and Destroy EPs with an acoustic version of Curse of Me first appearing on Spook and Destroy. The album was released shortly after The Undead Unplugged UK Tour in 2014.

Wednesday 13 and Jack Tankersley appeared on the record together but Roman Surman joined the Undead tour and on stage.

3 Haunt Me
4 Nowhere
5 Morgue Than Words

7 Welcome To The Strange
8 Scary Song
9 We All Die
10 Ghosts Stories
11 Transylvania 90210

Personal View – The new track Undead is actually decent and new and some of the chosen tracks to do unplugged are nice as it hits all era of his catalogue.  Too bad that some of the songs were released earlier on EPs and not replaced for more new stuff but it was a nice addition to the Wednesday 13 collection.

Wednesday 13 – Monsters of the Universe : Come Out and Plague (2015)

Early in 2015 Wednesday 13 released his sixth solo record called Monsters of the Universe : Come Out and Plague. This record was different then what he has written before as it had more elements of sci-fi and space and the unknown. In the past his writing has been around horror but this round it was more sci-fi. another difference with this record also was this was the first time that someone else was involved in the writing, Roman Surman wrote Planet Eater: Interstellar 187.

Wednesday 13  offered fans their names in the booklet on gravestones and royal ghouls appearing in artwork he has offered 13 fans the opportunity to name the 13 monsters, planets and lifeforms that would be appearing in the CD booklet on his MorgueThanMerch store.

Wednesday 13 changed his stage presence a bit this round by using black make-up, small strop lights on the palms of his hands, a devils mask and a few other things like green flames to make the show more interesting.  He wanted to up the game on stage and head more into more theatrics much like his idols of music.

The singles on the record was Come on out and Plague, Keep Watching the Skies and Serpent Society.

8 Bombs, Guns, Gods – This is a War
9 Planet Eater: Interstellar 187
10 I Love Watching You Die
11 Into The Crop Circle

13 The Arrival
14 Monsters of the Universe

Band Members

Wednesday 13 – Vocals, Guitar

Roman Surman – Guitar

Jack Tankersley  – Guitar

Troy Doebbler – Bass

Kyle Castronovo – Drums

Personal View – This record is way heavier than what he has done in the past or at least seems darker. I was not sure about the lack of horror and more unknown but after a few listens the record is actually pretty decent and strong. The top ranking tune on this record are Monsters of the Universe, I Love Watching You Die, Into The Crop Circle, Keep Watching The Skies, Serpent Society and Bombs, Guns, Gods – This is a War . Overall this record is solid and is one of his best solo wise. New direction and something that you can stomp your foot too.

Wednesday 13 – The Dixie Dead (2013)

Right after the Calling All Corpses tour Wednesday 13 went right back into the studio and did a more hill billy horror theme record called The Dixie Dead. Like other Wednesday 13 records and song writing the songs were based around horror films and geek culture.

Everything from puns of Motley Crue, vampires, Poltergeist movie, Flash Gordons enemy Ming the Merciless and even a anthem that some believe is directed to Joey Jordison (Fuck You (In Memory Of…).  This record had a mixed bag of material.

Much like the last record this one had similar sounds when it came to backing vocals but the tracks were not just set to a certain tone as some songs were heavy while others had a touch of Bourbon Crow to them. Wednesday 13 toured to support the record with the same band that he had out last time.

Track List

1 Death Arise (Intro)
2 Blood Sucker
3 Get Your Grave On
4 Curse the Living
5 Too Fast for Blood
6 Hail Ming
7 Coming Attractions
8 The Dixie Dead
9 Ghost Stories
10 Fuck You (In Memory Of…)
11 Carol Anne…They’re Here
12 Hands of the Ripper
13 Death Arise (Overture)

Band Members

Wednesday 13 – Vocals, Keyboards

Roman Surman -Guitar

Jack Tankersley – Guitar

Troy Doebbler  – Bass

Jason “Shakes” West – Drums

Personal View – This record is a hit and miss for me. The sound for me does not do it when it comes to back vocals. Its too loud and chant like. But some of the songs are real great such as the title track (which you must use the intro Coming Attractions to get the full effect), Ghost Stories and one of my personal favorites Carol Anne…They’re Here.

But there are a few tracks on this record which I find is trying to hard, one that stands out is Fuck You (In Memory Of…) but then again it might be because it has more of Bourbon Crow sound. Not a bad record overall but not his strongest.

Wednesday 13 – Spook and Destroy (2012)

During the Calling All Corpses tour Wednesday 13 started to announce that there was a new EP coming out called Spook and Destroy but not a lot of details on why this came out .

Late 2012 the EP came out and it contained 2 new songs M.F.T.W. (Mother Fuck The World) and Halloween 13-13  along with past songs remixed or re-recorded.

5 Mr. Motherfucker (Re-Recording 2012)

Jack Tankersley  – Guitar

Troy Doebbler -Bass

Jason “Shakes” West – Drums

Personal View – Still do not understand why this was released as it was and not kept for later on as a full record. But either way it welcomed 2 new tracks of Wednesday 13 so no complaints.  I’m not going to get into the old songs as we all know them but the 2 new songs are very interesting.

The first rack M.F.T.W. (Mother Fuck The World) is a fist pumping anthem which I think he was trying to nail a new I Love to Say Fuck and to be honest he did it. This song should really be played live!

The second song Halloween 13-13 has a great beat to it. It has a hollow chant in the background which reminds me of a old Misfits song. Another fun track.
