Gunfire 76 – Casualties & Tragedies (2009)

Wednesday 13 had been influenced with glam music of the 70s and 80s such as TRex, Motley Crue and other hair metal band of that time. He thought of starting a new project and drop the horror theme and work with Todd Youth of The Chelsea Smiles and record a new record. He named the project Gunfire 76  and started to record and write songs that had the old school metal feel. He dropped the horror look and went straight to the leather, cropped hair and metal ballads.

Wednesday 13 grabbed Roman Surman for guitar, Jamie Hoover on bass and Jason West on drums.

In August 2009 Wednesday 13 shared on the Myspace page some samples of what Gunfire 76 was going to sound.

Gunfire 76 toured for about 2 months to support the record called Casualties & Tragedies in October 2009 and named the tour First Blood Tour.

Personal View – This is one of those projects when I heard about it I was on the fence with. To me Wednesday 13 is punky, heavy and sleazy horror fun. I’m a huge Motley Crue fan but this record is not really my full cup of tea. There are some serious catchy fun tracks like Let’s Kill The Hero, Casualties And Tragedies and Rocket To Nowhere but some of other songs are just too much for me to enjoy like Los Angel-less and Get Me Through The Night. Too much bring out the girls songs. But I do understand why he did this as being a guy grown up on the glam metal I get it.

The real hidden gem of this record is Something For The Suffering, this screams old Alice Cooper and fits his image of any project perfect. Sooner have Wednesday 13 keeping rolling with the solo records.
